Laser Vision Correction

Vold Vision provides the gold standard for laser vision correction throughout the country. After laser eye surgery at Vold Vision, most patients can see 20/15 (better than 20/20) and actively enjoy the small things in life without glasses or contact lenses.

Our laser vision correction options provide excellent solutions for nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatisms, and many other forms of vision loss. For certain patients, such as those over 40 years old, other vision correction surgeries may be recommended over laser correction procedures.

What is Laser Vision Correction?

Laser vision correction reshapes the cornea to improve vision and reduce reliance on glasses or contacts. Dr. Vold and the physicians at Vold Vision will devise a customized treatment plan based on your eyes to help you achieve the best possible outcome. Candidates for laser vision correction must be over 18 with healthy eyes and a stable prescription for over a year.

SMILE

, Laser Vision Correction, Vold Vision

A small laser opening is made on the surface of your eye, a thin layer just below your eye’s surface is removed.

LASIK

, Laser Vision Correction, Vold Vision

A flap is made on the surface of your eye; a second laser reshapes your cornea.

PRK (LASEK)

, Laser Vision Correction, Vold Vision

The epithelium is removed, a second laser reshapes your cornea and the cells of your eye are regenerated.

The most well known laser vision correction surgery is LASIK. LASIK surgery is proven to correct myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. During LASIK eye surgery, a flap is made on the surface of your eye, and a computer-controlled excimer laser pulses light to reshape your cornea based on the data collected from your previous appointments. Once complete, the Vold Vision surgeon repositions the flap, which will naturally stay put and start healing within hours.

Vold Vision is among the top 10% of LASIK providers in the United States based on the number of procedures performed each month. If you have been told that you are not a LASIK candidate, you may be a candidate at Vold Vision. With our advanced technology laser, we are capable of treating eyes with higher prescriptions.

ReLEx SMILE is a laser eye vision treatment that reshapes the cornea in a slightly different way. The laser creates a tiny “keyhole” incision measuring just two millimeters and a thin lens-shaped layer called a lenticule. The nearly invisible lenticule is removed through the keyhole incision. The minimal size of the incision allows for a shorter and more simple recovery process.

SMILE is especially beneficial for short/near-sighted people with astigmatism or higher prescriptions who tend to have dry eyes. It is also effective for those with corneal surface issues from overusing contact lenses.

LASEK is an advanced technique of PRK (photo-refractive keratectomy) that removes the top layers of cells called the epithelium; then, the laser reshapes the surface to regenerate the eye cells and improve the shape of the cornea.

LASEK may be a better option than LASIK for patients with thin corneas or dry, itchy eyes. Since it does not create a flap, LASEK is preferred over LASIK for patients at high risk of trauma or injury to the eye (such as athletes or police officers).

The best option for you depends on the type of vision correction you need, your overall health, and your lifestyle. LASEK is a better option for those who are more active and are at higher risk of eye injuries. SMILE allows for minimal downtime and less risk and is typically best suited for near-sightedness and astigmatisms with higher prescriptions.

The best way to know which laser vision correction surgery is best for you is to schedule a consultation with Dr. Vold or a member of his expert team of physicians.
