To keep your retinas healthy, Dr. Steven Vold, a nationally known authority in retinal health brings his award-winning experience to diagnose and treat conditions of the retina. Along with our team of board-certified ophthalmologists and eye surgeons, patients who travel to Vold Vision in Northwest Arkansas will receive an accurate diagnosis and a customized treatment plan. While there are over 30 types of retinal diseases - such as macular edema, retinal artery occlusion, and infectious retinitis - it is age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy that are the most widespread cause of blindness in America. AMD is a serious condition, but it has become more treatable as recently as ten years ago. As a result, our goal at Vold Vision is to put patients at ease, help them understand the most current treatment options, and work together to manage their condition.
"I have been dealing with Glaucoma for the past 25 years. I was put under the care of Dr. Laura Voicu at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. She treated me for 18 months and performed Trabeculectomy surgeries on both eyes. Both surgeries were very successful. Dr. Voicuis a very compassionate, knowledgeable, and caring Physician and Surgeon. She is very thorough and carefully explains all aspects of your care. Of the numerous Doctors that have treated my Glaucoma she stands above the rest.Outstanding. I highly recommend Dr. Voicu for the treatment of Glaucoma."- T.D. / Google / Oct 30, 2017
"The best place to get LASIK. The procedure was fast and painless, and I could see the difference as soon as the surgery was complete. The whole process from the consultations to the checkups after the surgery have been simple and effortless. I felt at ease the whole time, mainly due to the personal and professional atmosphere provided by the staff. Highly recommend Dr. Vold for Laser vision correction."- J.G. / Facebook / Jun 26, 2018
"Here I am, one day post-LASIK and I literally am in disbelief at how well I can see! Part of me keeps thinking that I have my contacts in. I have to keep reminding myself that I don’t. I have nothing but glowing reviews of the entire team at Vold Vision. From the minute I first called for information I have been given the highest caliber of service, care, and compassion. It is evident that Dr. Vold and his entire team believe in the power of their work. They took extra tim...e to check and recheck to make sure that all of my measurements were exact. They have the very latest in technology to offer. The procedure itself was quick and painless and my results were almost immediate. After a good night’s sleep I woke up and I could see my sweet babies’ faces in total clarity. What a miracle! To Dr. Vold and everyone at Vold Vision, (Christine, Dr. McFarlane, and all the techs who talked me through my nervousness) thank you from the bottom of my heart! This a game changer. A LIFE changer!! #lasikbyvold"- B.H. / Facebook / Jun 06, 2018

Signs and Symptoms
AMD may not have any specific symptoms early in its cycle. However, as the disease progresses, you may experience warping of lines that are actually straight and the odd sensation that bright colors appear washed out and dull. Further untreated progression may also subject you to a gradual or sudden loss, darkening, or blurring of central vision. If you have diabetes, you may run the risk of developing diabetic retinopathy. Just as high blood sugar is unhealthy for the rest of your body, it can also cause damage to the blood vessels in your eyes, specifically the retina. This results in the swelling of the retina (macular edema) and the loss of sight. Another classic symptom are dark floaters as the retina tries compensating for the blocked blood vessels by growing new ones.
At Vold Vision we are proud to bring some of the most advanced retinal treatments to the state Arkansas. Our advanced micro-pulse green diode laser gives us the ability to treat patients without having them suffer from blind spots. Other types of treatments, such as surgery, are also available to best address whatever specific situation with which you are dealing. In the interest of enriching your quality of life, we are holistic and hands-on when it comes to collaborating with your other physicians so that all your care-givers work from the same information. This helps ensure congruent treatments and reduces conflicting solutions or medications.
