Vold Vision - Meet Dr. Laura Voicu
Dr. Laura A. Voicu, MD., certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, specializes in the diagnosis and management of cornea and external eye disease, glaucoma and cataracts. Dr. Voicu has completed fellowship training in both cornea disease and cornea transplants as well as glaucoma, at the Jules Stein-UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. Before this, she completed her residency and was elected as the Chief Resident at the Duke Eye Center in North Carolina. Her approach to glaucoma care combines a full spectrum of traditional glaucoma surgeries as well as cutting edge, minimally invasive procedures, laser treatments and diagnostic techniques, to make up a customized approach which is tailored to her patient’s needs and disease state. She provides cornea and external disease care, from the treatment of dry eye and infections of the cornea to full thickness corneal transplantation, as well as partial thickness corneal transplants including DSAEK and the newest, thinnest cornea transplant available, DMEK. She enjoys cataract surgery has a special interest in complex cataract procedures, management of complex cases involving the cornea and glaucoma, and bladeless corneal refractive surgery. Dr. Voicu is a graduate of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, New York, and did an internship in internal medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. She has been awarded numerous scholarships and academic awards and has numerous presentations and publications in the field of cornea and glaucoma disease. She is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the American Glaucoma Society.
