Former Arkansas Razorback, Now Vold Vision Optometrist

Dr. Hurd

In the spirit of football season, we are highlighting Vold Vision Optometrist and former Arkansas Razorback football player, Dr. David Hurd. Not only was Dr. Hurd the starting left tackle for the Arkansas Razorbacks, he also signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2014. After his professional football career, he channeled his competitive drive into optometry school at Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry. During his time there, he had the honor of winning the National Optometry Student Bowl.

“I do tend to be a competitive person and want to always give my best,” shared Dr. Hurd. “My football days are behind me, but now I use that same drive to provide the best care I can for our patients.”

As a Vold Vision optometrist, Dr. Hurd provides comprehensive eye exams and also participates in the pre and post-operative care of refractive, cataract, glaucoma and corneal surgical patients. He also cares for patients with systemic diseases such as hypertension and diabetes. Utilizing his years of playing football, Dr. Hurd specializes as a sport vision specialist, to fine tune athlete's skills and take them to the next level.

Dr. Hurd and his wife, Rachel, reside in Fayetteville, Arkansas where they met.
