What is EVO ICL™?

When it comes to vision correction, one size does not fit all. Your Vold Vision team offers a wide range of options, so we can help you find the right one. While we offer the standard laser eye surgery treatments like LASIK, we often recommend a less well-known but extremely effective option called EVO ICL™. This implantable lens offers a high level of vision correction with many benefits not offered by other treatments.

What is EVO ICL™?

EVO Visian ICL™ is a minimally invasive procedure that corrects your vision by placing an artificial lens over your natural one to improve focus. This advanced treatment is also known as an implantable contact lens because it performs a similar function but never needs to be cleaned, removed, or maintained, offering a level of comfort and convenience not offered by contacts or glasses.

This Implantable Collamer® Lens is made of biocompatible collagen that can remain in your eyes indefinitely without reactions or side effects. Unlike older implantable contact lenses, EVO ICL™ has an opening for natural drainage that makes placing them even easier and quicker than before. Once placed, the lens will not move around, and you will not be able to see or feel it.

How Does EVO ICL™ Work?

When light enters your eyes, it passes through two structures that focus it so you can see clearly. The first of these is the cornea, the clear structure at the front of the eye. LASIK works by removing layers of this structure to correct your vision. The second structure is a clear, disc-shaped lens that bends light as it passes through. If you have a refractive error such as nearsightedness or astigmatism, the shape of your eyes makes the angle of light incorrect, resulting in a blurry image. EVO VisianICL™ adds another layer of focus to adjust light before it enters your natural one, resulting in improved clarity.

Your eye surgeon begins the EVO ICL™ procedure by numbing your eyes. A small incision is used to insert the lens, which is placed behind the iris, the colored part of your eye, and on top of your lens. Its shape helps it settle into place and prevents it from moving while allowing natural drainage. The incision heals without sutures, making a recovery from this procedure much faster than you might expect.

What is Recovery Like After EVO ICL™?

You may notice improvements in your vision almost immediately after your EVO ICL™ procedure. However, you can expect some blurriness, minor irritation, and visual changes for a few days. Most people return to their usual activities within one to two days. You should avoid swimming, contact sports, and eye makeup for a week after treatment. Your vision will continue to improve and adapt over the next few weeks.

What are the Benefits of EVO ICL™?

People who have EVO ICL™ for vision correction are generally very pleased with their results and overall experience. Benefits of EVO ICL™ include:

  • Protects your eyes from UV damage that can affect your eye health
  • Does not remove any corneal tissue, making it completely reversible if desired
  • Maintenance-free and unnoticeable
  • Better night vision with less glare
  • Can treat severe nearsightedness not correctible with other procedures
  • Provides freedom from corrective lenses for most people
  • Safe for people who cannot have other types of vision correction

Am I a Good Candidate for EVO ICL™?

Laser eye surgery like LASIK uses a laser to remove layers of corneal tissue, which is safe and effective for many people. However, people with thin, weak, or abnormal corneas may not be good candidates for this type of treatment. EVO Visian ICL™ does not remove any part of the cornea, making it a safer option for these individuals. It is also a better option for those who have problems with dry eye symptoms.

EVO ICL™ is suitable for almost anyone, although candidates should meet these criteria:

  • Have nearsightedness, with or without astigmatism
  • Have had a stable prescription for one year
  • Are between the ages of 21 and 45 (after the age of 45, we may recommend a different procedure that addresses age-related changes)
  • Have healthy eyes
  • Have reasonable expectations
Vold Vision is absolutely amazing. I had LASIK yesterday and the staff made me feel so comfortable! They definitely deserve a 5 star and if I could give more I would! I will continue to go here for any needs and recommend them to everyone I know.
