Cosmetic eyelid surgery can be performed on the upper or lower eyelids or both. The surgery is designed to remove excess skin from around the eyes and reduce the appearance of bags beneath them. In cases where eyelid surgery is needed for functional reasons, such as impaired vision, patients achieve clearer peripheral vision, as well as an improved physical appearance.
To be considered a candidate for cosmetic eyelid surgery at Vold Vision, you should be healthy with realistic expectations about the outcome of your surgery. You should schedule a consultation at our facility to discuss the benefits and risks of the procedure. During the one-on-one consultation with your surgeon, feel free to candidly discuss your aesthetic goals to learn more about our oculoplastic treatment options.
How does it work?
Blepharoplasty works by addressing the issue of excess skin around the eyes. Once removed, the patient will have better peripheral vision and a more youthful and rested physical appearance.
What are the benefits?
Functional and aesthetic benefits include:
- Better peripheral vision
- Reduced under-eye "bags"
- Facial rejuvenation
How long is the recovery?
Total recovery from eyelid surgery typically lasts up to three weeks. You will need to apply cold compresses for the first 24 hours, and refrain from wearing makeup for the first week following treatment.
Will it hurt?
Cosmetic eye surgery is performed under general anesthesia. As such, the procedure itself will not cause pain. Following surgery, you may experience discomfort, which can be treated with cold compresses and pain medication.
How long will it take?
The surgical procedure could take between 45 minutes and two hours, depending on the amount of excess skin and the primary goal of the treatment. If you are combining other oculoplastic procedures, it could take a bit longer.
How much does it cost?
As your surgery will be customized to your needs, the cost varies from patient to patient. Vold Vision accepts a number of payment methods and is proud to accept medical financing partners, like CareCredit®.
