Board-Certified Optometric Physician
Michael R. McFarland OD, PhD is a board-certified optometric physician and serves as the Director of Clinical Research at Vold Vision in Fayetteville, Arkansas. With an undergraduate degree from Pittsburg State University, Dr. McFarland has remained at the top of his class throughout his education. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree with honors in 2009 from the University of Missouri St. Louis College of Optometry and was awarded the Norman E. Wallis award for achieving the highest Part I Basic Science score in the nation.
Following graduation, he underwent a residency at Vold Vision focusing on anterior segment and glaucoma. He has over a decade of clinical research experience participating in more than 50 clinical trials. He completed his Master’s degree in Clinical Vision Research in 2019 from Nova Southeastern University, Florida. He went on to earn his PhD in Biomedicine from Salus University, Pennsylvania in 2023 and continues to conduct research in the areas of refractive surgery, glaucoma, and anti-inflammatory therapies.
