Will I feel the lens in my eye like a contact?

No, it’s not like a contact as the lens does not sit on the surface of the eye but on the inside of the eye.

If I have this done now, will I eventually develop cataracts & need cataract surgery?

No, you will not develop cataracts after having clear lens exchange. In fact, CLE negates the patient from ever developing cataracts. Patients love the fact that CLE offers this one and done opportunity to be glasses free.

Is CLE an outpatient procedure?

Yes it is, and it only takes a few minutes to complete in the hands of our skilled surgeon. We also utilize cutting edge technology, taking both safety and efficacy to the absolute highest levels.

Why Would I have CLE vs. LASIK?

The Visual Outcome: For patients over 40 who are nearing or experiencing presbyopia, (the need for reading glasses) LASIK will only correct for distance vision, while CLE will help the patient see at a distance, up-close and intermediate offering a full range of vision.
Longer-Lasting Results: LASIK is a great option for most patients; however, as we age we all will develop cataracts, so to stay out of glasses and contacts someone who has had LASIK will have to invest again when their cataracts begin to form. How Long Does it Last?

The artificial intraocular lens is a permanent replacement for your natural lens and is designed to last the rest of your life. There is minimal risk of regression (loss of corrective effect or deterioration of vision) over time.

Is it Safe?

Lens surgery is the most commonly performed surgery in the U. S. and arguably one of the safest procedures today with efficacy exceeding 99% in most clinical studies. Are there any side effects?

Patients may see some glare and halos around lights after the procedure. Most patients adapt and it becomes a non-issue within a few months. For most patients who already notice glare and halos they do not notice this at all.

Does it Correct Astigmatism?

Yes.

Are there any restrictions after the procedure?

No contact sports, swimming or eye make-up for one week. There is no flight or lifting restrictions.
