Exams and Services
Vold Vision offers a number of eye care services for the family. There’s no need for eye exams to be intimidating. However, it’s important to note that simple vision screenings are not the same as a complete eye exam. Screenings only detect reduced vision or major vision problems but are ineffective for detecting more subtle vision problems or eye diseases. Alternately, eye exams conducted by the professionals at Vold Vision, not only assess your visual acuity but your overall eye health. Having the most advanced diagnostic technology available enables us to check for serious eye problems such as glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and detached retinas.
Vold Vision is proud to offer the following eye care services for the entire family:

Not quite sure who in your family should be visiting our vision center and when?
- Teens
Most kids will have an eye exam long before they reach their teens, but studies show that between the ages of 8 - 12 is when nearsightedness becomes more prevalent. The eyes do not actually reach maturity until around 18 years of age. During these important growing and developmental years, annual eye exams are recommended. At Vold Vision, we love working with our teens and thus have designed a teen program to meet the needs of patients during these changing years. With advanced diagnostic tools to assess overall eye health, we are able to recommend glasses, contact lens counseling, and other vision health needs necessary to promote good habits for long-term prevention.
- Young Adults
If you are between the age of 20 - 40, you are considered a young adult and while these years are often marked with good physical health, the eyes can still change and slowly decline. In this age group, common vision problems include nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Thankfully, there are many options including glasses and contact lens, however, we often recommend laser vision correction surgery which many patients in this age group love. Why? Because they are busy, they have active lifestyles and desire options that allow them to see clearly without the hassle of dealing with glasses or contacts. Patients who contemplate laser surgery for years often tell us they wish they had done it sooner, the minute the procedure is over.
- Middle Age
Ok, so we all have heard the term "middle age". These are the years to really get out and enjoy life. Often, the kids are grown or can function on their own, and life picks up with travel, hobbies, and for many, faster careers. Unfortunately, at this age, even after years of stable vision, issues begin to occur that can be annoying and frustrating. People in their 40s and 50s begin to experience problems with blurry near vision and glares. This decline in crystal clear vision may be due to presbyopia and Dysfunctional Lens Syndrome (DLS) which is an age-related condition where the lens inside the eye loses its natural flexibility and continues to worsen with each year. This is when the readers are often purchased and used to read menus and the morning news. Active adults at this age may not be ready to succumb to readers, bifocals, or multi-focal contacts, so Vold Vision offers a number of options ranging from laser vision correction surgery, to a number of other surgical alternatives to help regain clear vision.
- Seniors (65+)
By the time people entire this age group, larger eye problems can surface. Cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disease, and more can become frightening with vision loss occurring rapidly. Even at this age, there is no cause for concern as Vold Vision has the technology, diagnostic tools, and advanced treatments to help seniors at various progression levels. In fact, there are so many options today for the 65 and over group, that hope can be given and crystal clear vision regained, which is extremely exciting for not only our patients but for everyone at Vold Vision who plays a part in the journey.
