To keep your retinas healthy, Dr. Steven Vold, a nationally known authority in retinal health brings his award-winning experience to diagnose and treat conditions of the retina. Along with our team of board-certified ophthalmologists and eye surgeons, patients who travel to Vold Vision in Northwest Arkansas will receive an accurate diagnosis and a customized treatment plan. While there are over 30 types of retinal diseases - such as macular edema, retinal artery occlusion, and infectious retinitis - it is age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy that are the most widespread cause of blindness in America. AMD is a serious condition, but it has become more treatable as recently as ten years ago. As a result, our goal at Vold Vision is to put patients at ease, help them understand the most current treatment options, and work together to manage their condition.
"1 week ago today I had the SMILE procedure done at Vold Vision. BEST. DECISION. EVER! 1 day post op I had 20/20 vision! I never thought I’d see the day where I didn’t wake up scrambling around to find my glasses just to make it to the bathroom to put in my contacts for a 12hr shift at the hospital, but here we are and I couldn’t be more thankful!
The entire staff at Vold has been amazing! The front desk staff always greets me with a warm and positive attitude. John in scheduling worked with me to get pre op testing, surgery date, and post op appointments made that were perfect for me and my work schedule. Dr. Moser saw me for my pre op testing and has been following my progress during the post op period. She is incredibly knowledgeable and has answered all of my questions/concerns thus far! And last, but not least, Dr. Vold on surgery day was phenomenal! Even though the procedure itself is very quick, he continuously reassured me and kept the experience very calming and relaxing. He mentioned multiple times how excited he was for me and I cannot thank him enough for giving me this new and much improved vision!
10/10 definitely recommend Dr. Vold & his entire team!"- M.L. / Facebook / May 26, 2021

"Thursday was the last day I’d have to wear contacts or glasses except for SUNGLASSES! Thank you Vold Vision! I’ve been in glasses since I was 6 or 7…that’s 28ish years! I tried to get lasik/lasek but was not a candidate. However, hope was not lost! With EVO ICL I’m able to finally have great vision without the help of contacts or glasses! So if you’ve been turned down before and still dream of life without contacts and glasses definitely make the trip to have a consult at Vold Vision. They have the best staff, they’re very personable and just all around great! #VoldVision #EVOICL"- K.P. / Facebook / Jun 26, 2022
"I had my laser/smile procedure 2 years ago and WOW! The difference it has made in my life is indescribable! I wore contacts for most of my life and I was always worried about losing one of them being uncomfortable etc. It really added a lot of stress to my life. I finally decided to have the procedure and I have not regretted it. To wake up and actually open my eyes and see is so awesome! No more solutions no more worries! FREEDOM!"- Anonymous / Facebook / Jun 18, 2022
"I had the CLE done on Thursday. Next day I can read my phone, prescription labels and see my alarm clock in the middle of the night without straining. The procedure was easy and painless. They were very professional to work with and put my nerves at ease. Highly recommend Vold"- T.M. / Facebook / May 24, 2022
Signs and Symptoms
AMD may not have any specific symptoms early in its cycle. However, as the disease progresses, you may experience warping of lines that are actually straight and the odd sensation that bright colors appear washed out and dull. Further untreated progression may also subject you to a gradual or sudden loss, darkening, or blurring of central vision. If you have diabetes, you may run the risk of developing diabetic retinopathy. Just as high blood sugar is unhealthy for the rest of your body, it can also cause damage to the blood vessels in your eyes, specifically the retina. This results in the swelling of the retina (macular edema) and the loss of sight. Another classic symptom is dark floaters as the retina tries compensating for the blocked blood vessels by growing new ones.
At Vold Vision, we are proud to bring some of the most advanced retinal treatments to the state of Arkansas. Our advanced micro-pulse green diode laser gives us the ability to treat patients without having them suffer from blind spots. Other types of treatments, such as surgery, are also available to best address whatever specific situation with which you are dealing. In the interest of enriching your quality of life, we are holistic and hands-on when it comes to collaborating with your other physicians so that all your care-givers work from the same information. This helps ensure congruent treatments and reduces conflicting solutions or medications.
