State of the Art Technology Provides Cataract Patients with Precise Surgery

3D surgery might be considered the wave of the future for cataract surgery, but it has been a tool that Dr. Steven Vold has used the last decade. Vold Vision is the only ophthalmology center in the state of Arkansas to offer 3D cataract surgery; it is believed to enhance surgical outcomes.

A cataract is a cloudy lens in your eye that interferes with a person’s ability to read, drive or carry out other normal activities. While manual cataract surgery certainly is still effective, customized femtosecond laser cataract surgery takes this procedure to an entirely new level,” Vold stated.

Vold was the first in state of Arkansas to offer custom laser cataract correction. “With this advanced technology, we are now achieving 20/20 or better vision in greater than 90 percent of our patients,” Vold explained.

The ORA technology is also a favorite of patients as it helps ensure their desired visual outcomes. During the patient’s initial in-office exam, an optical technician will perform eye measurements to allow the perfect customized lens to be selected for placement during surgery. The accuracy of these tests plays a key part in the patient’s visual outcome. The challenge is the tests are done through the patient’s cloudy cataract lens. This is where the ORA System Technology plays a significant role.
