EVO ICL

As an eye clinic devoted to helping our patients live their best life, we pride ourselves on the ability to provide a complete selection of vision correction procedures customizable to their unique eyes. Vold Vision offers EVO ICL, also known as the Implantable Collamer® Lens, for patients seeking freedom from contacts and glasses.

This implantable lens works with your natural eye to correct the most common visual problem: myopia or nearsightedness, with or without astigmatism. More than 2 million EVO ICL lenses have been distributed worldwide.

Implantable Collamer Lens® (or Implanted Contact Lens) by EVO ICL is a biocompatible lens that gently unfolds in your eye behind the iris. Dominating 99% of the ICL market, Colamer® is a collagen copolymer that contains a small amount of purified collagen, a similar material found in soft contact lenses, and an ultraviolet light filter.

The lens, which is slightly smaller than a typical contact lens, is implanted in the eye in a less than 20-minute procedure, performed on an outpatient basis. Unlike laser vision correction procedures, the EVO ICL procedure is additive, meaning no corneal tissue is removed.

This reversible procedure creates options for a much wider range of prescriptions, from low to extremely high, while giving patients a quality of vision that is sharper, clearer, and more vivid than glasses or contacts.

Vision correction with the EVO ICL is an outpatient treatment that typically takes 15-20 minutes. After an initial free consultation with one of our highly trained doctors, you will schedule your procedure. Before the day of the surgery, you will need to plan for someone to drive you home.

On the day of the surgery, one of our trained practitioners numbs your eyes with an anesthetic eye drop, and your surgeon will implant the ICL between the iris (colored part of the eye) and the natural lens. We recommend you plan to be at our surgery center for two to three hours to allow ample time for check-in, preparation, procedure, and post-op care. Your surgeon will schedule a follow-up appointment on the same day as the procedure.

EVO ICL offers many benefits for patients seeking a vision solution that requires less dependence on glasses or contact lenses. The advantages of EVO ICL include:

  • Sharp, clear vision
  • Excellent night vision with no astigmatism
  • Does not cause dry eye syndrome
  • Quick 15-20 minute procedure
  • Quick 24-hour recovery
  • No removal of corneal tissue
  • Removable by your doctor
  • Protection from UV rays
  • Freedom from Contacts and Glasses
  • 99% Patient Satisfaction Rate

Since the lens sits in, not on your eyes, there is no daily maintenance as with traditional contact lenses and no concern of problems or restrictions from hobbies you love, like swimming.

Most patients resume daily activities within 24-48 hours, but contact sports, swimming, and eye makeup must wait for at least one week. Best results may take several weeks or more.

Only your eye care practitioner will be able to tell that vision correction has taken place. Unlike a contact lens, it is not typically noticeable after implantation. It does not attach to any structures within the eye and does not move around once in place.

The EVO ICL remains in place without maintenance and provides a long-term solution. Since it is an additive procedure, it is fully reversible and can be removed by your eye care professional if needed. If removed, you will lose the benefit of your nearsightedness correction.

People who want flexible and biocompatible vision correction or are unable to receive laser vision correction are good candidates for Visian EVO ICL. Our doctors perform a thorough evaluation, give patients information regarding the risks, and answer any questions.

Because the EVO ICL corrects distance vision, it does not eliminate the need for reading glasses. You may require them at some point, even if you have never worn them. Ideal candidates for EVO ICL:

  • Are between the ages of 21 and 45
  • Seeking a vision correction solution for moderate to severe nearsightedness (with or without astigmatism)
  • Have a stable prescription that has not changed within the last year
  • Have good overall health with no history of glaucoma, iritis, or diabetic eye disease

You may not be a good candidate for EVO ICL surgery if you are pregnant or nursing, do not meet the minimum endothelial cell density for your age, or the shape of your eye is not appropriate.
